Plastic in the sorted food waste

In some of our refuse rooms the food waste is not recycled correctly and UMEVA often find plastic in the brown vessels. Please keep in mind not to use plastic bags but only the paper bags that are intended for organic waste. New bags are available in the refuse rooms.
What happens if you sort incorrectly

Plastic in food waste leads to:

• problems with clogged grinders and other mechanical parts of the biogas plant
• the residue used as fertilizer becomes contaminated by plastic
• loss of efficiency when making biogas since food waste comes along when trying to remove the plastic
• decreased environmental benefits when the plastic is not recycled properly
• an additional processing step when the plastic and other false materials which have been removed must be taken care of

If you have questions about sorting, please let us know.

Best regards,
The area landlords
