We own five wind power plants

Wind power is an infinite, renewable energy source that has been used for thousands of years. Since 2011, we have owned five wind power plants in Hörnefors that produce between 20 and 21 million kilowatt-hours a year, equivalent to all of 70 per cent of the facility electricity we use in our buildings. Facility electricity is the electricity used for example by ventilation units, fans, pumps, laundry rooms and lighting but does not include heating and tenants’ household electricity.

“For us it’s important to contribute to more renewable and green electricity. And we are also extremely proud that we are almost self-sufficient as regards electricity,” says Thomas Edström, energy strategist at Bostaden.

All the electricity that Bostaden purchases comes from Umeå Energi – and is one hundred per cent renewable.
