Giving notice

The easiest way is to give notice on your tenancy agreement on your Personal page - log in and follow the instructions. However, if two people are written on the contract you cannot give notice on your Personal page.

You can also hand in a written notice of termination to Bostaden. You can use the back of your tenancy agreement or write us a letter or an e-mail. State your name, personal ID number, address, phone number and the date you wish to end the contract.

Periods of notice

Rented flats within Bostaden

Three month's notice, which means that your tenancy agreement ends at the turn of the month, three calendar months after you gave notice.
Example: If you intend to move out on the 30th of April, we need your notice no later than the 31st of January.

Student flats

Two month's notice, see above.

Student rooms (dormitory)

One month's notice, see above.

Parking space or garage

We lease these on a annual basis. You have to terminate the contract one (1) month before the end of the contract period for parking spaces and three (3) months before for garages. Otherwise, the contract is automatically extended by one (1) year at a time. If the tenancy agreement of the flat is terminated, the contract on the parking space will terminate on the same day.

Premises

The period of notice stated in the tenancy agreement.

Extra storage area

These contracts run on a six month basis, so notice of termination has to be submitted no later than three months before the end of the rent period. Otherwise, the contract is extended with six more months. If you give notice on the flat, the contract for the storage area ends on the same date.

Period of notice when you are moving to another Bostaden flat

If you are moving to another Bostaden flat, the period of notice of your contract always applies, with the following exceptions, see below:

Example student flat: If you live in a student flat and want to apply for another one with entry date April 1st, you must apply no later than February 7th. Otherwise you will have to pay rent for two flats in April.
